Pornography and the Believer: The Church's Call to Action when Living in the Age of Technology

For many men and women who struggle with pornography, there's a desire to simply "pray" the addiction away. Would it were that easy! Science must also accompany the spiritual tools people tend to use.

Lynda Smith, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Certified Sex Addiction Therapist will provide practical, concrete suggestions of breaking the cycle of porn addiction and answer some questions many of us have like: what is it about pornography that makes it addictive? Why can't I just pray the addiction away? What are some concrete ways that can help curb or stop my urge to click? How do I overcome the shame that I feel after the pleasure that I experience? I don't click that often, so how do I know if I have an addiction to pornography? You don't want to miss this one! Make sure to bring a friend! And remember, your first drink is on us!

How are you witnessing to the joy of your faith? How can different forms of media (including broadcast media) help evangelize a world drowning in secular darkness? Join us for this lively discussion and make sure to bring a friend! As always your first drink is on us!

Darwin, Galileo Affair, Creationism, Scopes Monkey Trial, The God Particle, Playing God, Lynn White Thesis, Dawkins, Hitchens. These and other words have been used to reinforce the myth of the conflict between science and religion. On this day of the total eclipse, Fr. Fr. Lankenau did his undergraduate and graduate work in wildlife biology and conservation education at Colorado State University. Since joining the Society of Jesus he has been actively involved in promoting discourse between science and religion, especially in areas related to the environment and biology. He has taught biology, church history and ethics at Seattle Prep and Gonzaga Prep, and he developed a theology course on science and religion. As of August 18th, he will be the new chaplain for the Bronco Catholic team at BSU.
