Theology on Tap at Powderhaus Brewing

Join us Monday, August 21st at Powderhaus Brewing Company for "Religion and Science: From Conflict to Conversation" with Fr. Tom Lankenau, S.J.

Darwin, Galileo Affair, Creationism, Scopes Monkey Trial, The God Particle, Playing God, Lynn White Thesis, Dawkins, Hitchens. These and other words have been used to reinforce the myth of the conflict between science and religion. On this day of the total eclipse, Fr. Lankenau will offer some perspectives on the historical models of intersection between science and religion, and how the two can, through respectful dialogue and inquiry, provide valuable insights into areas that touch upon key issues of science.

Fr. Lankenau did his undergraduate and graduate work in wildlife biology and conservation education at Colorado State University. Since joining the Society of Jesus he has been actively involved in promoting discourse between science and religion, especially in areas related to the environment and biology. He has taught biology, church history and ethics at Seattle Prep and Gonzaga Prep, and he developed a theology course on science and religion. As of August 18th, he will be the new chaplain for the Bronco Catholic team at BSU.

As always, your first drink is free! Bring a friend. Bring a blanket or lawn chair, food, and some bug spray!!

This is the final "Theology on Tap" at the Powderhaus for the summer, so don't miss it! Mark your calendar, and tell your friends! Take advantage of the outdoors, good beers, and good conversations with other young Catholic adults!
